If you are reading this page, you are obviously considering testing the waters of online poker.   You probably have a lot of questions and feel like its difficult or scary to get started playing poker online – you’ve got to find an online poker room, you have to fund your poker bankroll, download software, etc., etc.  Don’t worry, its not as complicated as you may think and here at PokerNewsPage.com we make it easy for you and have put together some tips for “Getting Started on Online Poker”.

Step 1:  Pick an Online Poker Room
The first thing you need to do is to go to our Rakeback page and pick on an online poker room that is right for you.  Our Rakeback page shows all of the online poker rooms we partner with as well as the current Rakeback offer and deposit bonuses.     If you live in the United States, you’ll need to pick one that allows players from the United States as indicated by the U.S. flag next to the online poker room's name.

Step 2:  Download the Software and Create an ID 
So you’ve picked your room and you are ready to play.  Simply click on the room of your choice from our Rakeback page and follow the 3 simple steps provided there.  Step 2 will take you directly to the online poker room’s website.  Next you’ll want to follow the instructions provided by the online poker room and download the software.  You’ll be asked to create a user ID and password.  You might also be asked to input a bonus code.  Be sure to use the code provided in Step 2 so that you can get your deposit bonus.  In step 3, you fill out the information required, hit submit, and you are on your way to earning your Rakeback. 

Step 3:  Deposit Your Money
You’ve picked your room, you’ve downloaded the software, and you are ready to play.  All you need to do now is deposit your money.   Each online poker room has a variety of ways to deposit money, but the most common ones are an e-check type of method (where you deposit electronically from your checking account) or third party money transfer service provider.  

If your budget allows, we recommend that you make your initial deposit an amount that will maximize your bonus.  For example, if the online poker room you've chosen offers 100% match up to $400, you can maximize the bonus given to you by depositing the amount which caps out the bonus (in this case, you’d want to deposit $400).  

Step 4:  Start Playing!
You’ve made your first deposit and your are ready to hit the tables!   Keep in mind that playing online poker is a very different game than playing in a brick and mortar establishment so you might want to read out Tips for Playing Poker Online article.
